New exhibit shows off dozens of photos of Detroit

DETROIT A new exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts features 80 photographs of the city’s people, places and sites.

The DIA partnered with Condé Nast on the show, which focuses on the work of Bruce Weber, a prominent fashion photographer.

DIA director Graham W.J. Beal says: “Weber’s images beautifully capture the spirit of the people who make up this city.”

Among them are portraits of singer Aretha Franklin and activist Grace Lee Boggs and shots of the Kronk Gym and Belle Isle.

“Detroit — Bruce Weber” opened Friday and runs through Sept. 7. It is free with museum admission.
