Unlike some of the ring flash projects we’ve looked at before, this method requires no bulbs or other lighting, and no special hardware. It also works with a regular point-and-shoot camera rather than only with DSLRs.
Built from a plastic container, an old-school film canister, sheet plastic, tape and foil, the ring flash can be constructed in next to no time. It does not require complicated mounting — just slide it on and off as required — and if you add parchment paper to the inside, you can better diffuse light.
